Every day that the president refuses to act puts doctors and nurses in danger.

John,

Social Security Works has been calling for Trump to force production of ventilators and medical protective equipment to make sure doctors and nurses have what they need to fight COVID-19.

Just minutes ago, Trump used the Defense Production Act to force General Motors to produce ventilators.

This is a huge victory, and it will save lives. But shortages have still left doctors and nurses forced to wear garbage bags instead of the personal protective equipment they need. We need to keep up the pressure.

Read more about how important this is in Alex's email below, then sign the petition to keep the pressure on, to protect doctors and nurses while they protect us!

Thanks,

Michael Phelan

Tell Congress:

"Pass the Medical Supply Chain Emergency Act which directs Donald Trump to activate the Defense Production Act, authorizing the president in times of crisis to require U.S. manufacturers to pivot their production toward in-demand resources including respirators, ventilators, masks and personal protective equipment for medical professionals. Every day that the president refuses to act puts doctors and nurses in danger."

John,

By now you’ve surely seen this graph, or one like it, as people #StayInside to #FlattenTheCurve:

Flatten the Cuve

But that dotted line that says “health care system capacity” isn’t fixed and has not been addressed in any of the first three bills passed by Congress. We can move it up by adding hospital beds and ventilators. Or we can move it down by refusing to protect doctors and nurses.

We need to raise that line. The Medical Supply Chain Emergency Act, which was just introduced with bipartisan support, would direct the president to activate the Defense Production Act, authorizing the president in times of crisis to require U.S. manufacturers to pivot their production toward in-demand resources including respirators, ventilators, masks and personal protective equipment for medical professionals. Every day that the president refuses to act puts doctors and nurses in danger.

ADD YOUR NAME: Tell Congress to pass the Medical Supply Chain Emergency Act and immediately ramp up production of medical supplies.

Under this bill, the federal government would also coordinate the distribution of equipment to each state based on requests from governors and where the need is greatest.

Right now, Doctors and nurses are putting themselves in harm’s way to save every life they can during this crisis. We need to have their backs by making sure they have the tools they need to fight this pandemic. And they can’t do that when they’re the patients.

Tell Congress that the next bill to address the coronavirus pandemic must put our health care first—including protecting those on the frontline.

While doctors and nurses fight for us, we need to fight for them. Send Congress a message today!

Thanks,

Alex Lawson
