Sadly, we just learned that instead of helping the American people during a global pandemic, our federal government decided to suspend all enforcement actions by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This means oil refineries, chemical plants, coal-fired power stations and other polluters will now be allowed to pump toxic chemicals into our air and water, not only so, but the waiver will make it impossible to fully assess the environmental damage of their reckless actions. I think we can all agree this is an egregious response to our current pandemic!
This is outrageous. What is the administration thinking? Air pollution increases our vulnerability to respiratory diseases and infections. Dirty corporate interests are continuing their efforts to lobby our government to weaken environmental safeguards, but now, especially, is not the time to prioritize polluters over the health of our communities.
Pitch in to support CLCV as we hold our leaders accountable, if you can. Even in these uncertain times, we need your help to make sure decisions move us all forward, not backwards.
Our hearts and thoughts remain with you. We’re grateful for your support, and we hope you stay safe and healthy!
