Are polluting industries exploiting the crisis?

Dear Friend,

Yesterday, the Trump administration announced that it would ease its enforcement of environmental regulations on polluting industries that claim COVID-19 is making it impossible for them to comply. We know that industry opportunists are using the cover of COVID-19 to lobby the Trump administration for looser restrictions, and the administration has a long track record of doing their bidding. We have to hold them accountable.

When Earthjustice closed our offices around the country to help stop the spread of COVID-19, we knew our fights would continue. We shifted to remote work because we knew that this administration wouldn’t stop its attacks on the environment.

Yesterday's news reaffrims that even in a global health crisis, Earthjustice needs to stay vigilant and committed to protect our environment. We cannot allow industries to chip away at environmental protections under the cover of COVID-19 — right when we need those protections most. We’ll be watching closely to make sure this move by the Trump administration doesn’t give polluters a free pass.

So this is just a quick note to let you know that we are still here. We are still fighting. From kitchen tables and home offices around the country, we will not rest in our pursuit to protect people and the planet, now and for the future.

All of us at Earthjustice are grateful you are with us as we push forward.

Thank you,
