Democrat,

The COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally altered our lives and put many of us or our neighbors in health danger or financial peril. It’s a time that demands strong leadership at all levels of government, from local mayors who have gone above and beyond for their communities, to Governor Murphy and our state leaders who are working around the clock, to our federal representatives who just passed a $2 trillion relief package in Congress. It will take all of their efforts to get through this crisis, along with all of us listening to public health experts and continuing to stay inside.

Governor Murphy, Health Commissioner Judith Persichili and state officials are continuing to conduct daily briefings with up to date information about the state’s response to this crisis. Earlier this week, Governor Murphy made a powerful statement about our values that is inspiring many around the state, saying that he will never compromise on trying to save every life we can. Watch the Governor’s statement here.

New Jersey’s Democratic Congressional delegation unanimously supported the $2 trillion relief package legislation this week, paving the way for federal funding to start flowing into hospitals, small businesses, unemployment funds and many other areas that desperately need the support. Senator Bob Menendez played a key role as one of the Senate Democrats’ primary negotiators on the bill, and he released the following statement:

“This legislation responds to the urgent needs of states like New Jersey, which has already spent billions of dollars battling the nation’s second-highest number of COVID-19 cases,” said Sen. Bob Menendez.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
