Today, two dueling visions for the future of Texas and our country are playing out along our Southern border, my friend.
President Joe Biden will be visiting my hometown of Brownsville, engaging in discussions with community officials, Border Patrol, and local law enforcement to explore bipartisan solutions for border security.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are opting to visit Greg Abbott’s movie set in Eagle Pass -- for an appearance on the Sean Hannity Show on Fox.
The contrast between President Biden’s proactive approach to addressing the challenges at our border and Donald Trump and Ted Cruz’s deliberate efforts to block commonsense, bipartisan efforts to solve the border crisis is a stark reminder of the stakes of this election.
Having both of the presumptive nominees for President in our state on the same day drives home what we’ve been saying all along, my friend -- in 2024, Texas is the battleground of battlegrounds:
Over the past 12 years, Texas has trended Democratic more rapidly than any other battleground state.
Joe Biden narrowly lost Texas within just a 5-point margin, despite minimal national investment.
Texas is the youngest battleground state, with a median age of 34.
Texas has the largest Hispanic/Latino and Black voting populations, and a growing AAPI community.
And critically, Democrats now outnumber Republicans in Texas. (Yes, you read that right.)
Texas is on the brink of a Democratic breakthrough in 2024 -- and you have a crucial role to play in it, my friend . The success of our essential programs like the Beat Cruz War Room, our Voter Protection Program, and our candidate training program Lone Star Rising depend on the generous support from people like you.
