** I Recently Made My 6th Visit to Ukraine in a Year

I have just returned from my sixth visit to Ukraine since February 2022 in which I commemorated the 2nd anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While in Ukraine, I attended the Yalta European Strategy (YES) Conference as part of a cross-party delegation of MPs organised by UK Friends of Ukraine. In addition to the conference, I had a great deal of other meetings and visits while I was there.
2nd Anniversary of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

I was in Ukraine to commemorate the second anniversary invasion of Ukraine. I stood and paid my respects at the Wall of Remembrance to the Fallen of Ukraine.

Yalta European Strategy (YES) Conference 2024

There were so many interesting panel discussions around topics such as the political isolation of Russia; the future of NATO; Ukraine's operations on the battlefield and and many other subjects.

(Below left) I had a very productive meeting with the Ukrainian Security & Cooperation Centre in which we discussed naval operations in the Black Sea, how reparations will be made to Ukraine and her allies and, among other topics, the excellent relationship between British and Ukrainian defence ministries.

(Below right) I visited Drone Space - an innovative manufacturer making all kinds of drones with which to hit Russian targets. Maxim (pictured) is just one of the many creative genius behind so many projects at Drone Space.

I took the Time to visit the Medbat hospital facility (below) just outside of Kyiv. I met with Gennadiy Druzenko and his colleagues Mykyta Kuliehenko and Daria Ripna. They have looked after 90,000 patients since this war started a decade ago. They have 27 medics deployed and showed us one of their ambulances, as well as the way they have beautifully painted used ammunition boxes with orthodox religious imagery (pictured) and I asked if they would exhibit them in the House of Commons. I thanked them for their hospitality and for the Ukrainian ice cream.

Visit to Chernihiv Oblast
After the YES Conference, I travelled with the delegation to Chernihiv Oblast. I met with regional leaders in which we discussed the state of evacuations from areas of the Oblast which border Russia and Belarus, in addition to shelling which has taken place which has sadly claimed 683 lives. We also met with representatives of the Halo Trust who gave us a practical demonstration of their efforts to clear mine fields in the local area which pose a danger to the lives of Ukrainian civilians.

I am very proud to represent an area which is doing so much for the people of Ukriane in their struggle and hour of need. From defence manufacturers in the constituency and the broader South West, to the fantastic people who work at MoD DE&S Abbey Wood who are procuring and delivering crucial kit and equipment in-country as quickly as possible. We are doing so much as an area to help give the Ukrainians the tools they need to finish the job. As they say in Ukraine, let's build the arsenal of the free world together.
