Yesterday, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker said “we are doing
everything we can, through an incredibly messy thicket that is enormously
frustrating” to get our medical workers the life-saving supplies they
need. That states are still having to jump through hoops to obtain even a
fraction of the equipment they need is unacceptable.
The current shortage of masks, gloves, ventilators, and other vital
resources is putting lives at risk — and the occupant of the White House
and this administration are failing to rise to the challenge.
The administration in Washington, DC must authorize and make use of the
Defense Production Act (DPA) to manufacture and distribute the life-saving
equipment that is needed to protect healthcare workers from COVID-19 and
care for those infected with the virus.
We have the ability to scale our production and distribution to meet the
moment, but time is running out.

the Defense Production Act immediately to federalize and scale our
production of life-saving equipment?

Healthcare workers in the Massachusetts 7th and around the country are on
the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, and they’re counting on us to
ensure they have the supplies they need to protect themselves and our
communities.
The clock is ticking, and lives depend on the federal government taking
swift action that matches the urgency of this crisis.
Only the occupant of the White House can activate the DPA, and we need to
organize and advocate to hold him accountable for putting the lives of
patients and healthcare workers first.

Defense Production Act so we can manufacture life-saving equipment that
our country needs.
Thank you for making your voice heard. I’m wishing you and your family
health and safety.
In Solidarity,
