We just launched our plan to get to fair maps in 2032, and I'll admit it's hard to fully wrap your head around the timeframe. Ten years is a long time in politics. But A.G. Holder often reminds us to think about Dr. King’s famous quote, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” A.G. Holder often reminds us to think about how the arc of the moral universe doesn’t bend all by itself. It bends because caring, committed people put their hands on that arc and pull it in the right direction. It bends under the relentless pounding of marching feet. It bends because people like you — people like us — are determined to bend it together.

I believe that with all my heart. This plan is about us pulling that arc towards justice and not waiting for it to bend on its own. Our 10 Year Plan will protect the fair maps we’ve achieved, prevent anti-democratic Republican efforts to gerrymander maps and undermine our democracy, and propel toward fair redistricting and a more representative democracy.

Our comprehensive 10 Year Plan is our roadmap to winning the fight for fair maps — and it’s going to be executed in the following phases:

→ Build. We’ll continue our challenges to gerrymandered maps and build new mapping infrastructure.
→ Grow. We’ll invest in expanding our national and state-based networks to engage in targeted electoral work, push reform efforts, and double down on our accountability efforts.
→ Execute. We’ll educate and mobilize this grassroots network to push for reforms and help fight for a fair and accurate 2030 Census.
→ Win. And by 2032, we’ll secure fair maps everywhere we can, while continuing to hold legislators accountable and challenging bad maps as needed.

The NDRC is the only organization that has a comprehensive plan to finally secure a long-term victory for fair maps.
