In case you missed it, Mitch McConnell announced a few hours ago that he intends to step down from his role as the Republican Senate Leader this November.
McConnell’s announcement follows a wave of Republicans announcing their departure in recent weeks, describing the atmosphere in Congress as toxic and dysfunctional.

Mitch McConnell, despite his long-standing record of hard right politics, is not extremist enough for Trump. The Republicans sticking around know that their only path to power is unconditional loyalty to Donald Trump, and that includes my opponent, Nick LaLota.
LaLota has made his choice – not to serve the people of Long Island, but to serve at the whim of Donald Trump. Our community deserves better. I’m building the campaign that will defeat Nick LaLota, help flip the House in November, and get to work helping Long Islanders.
