On Monday, we urged Gov. Evers to veto PFAS legislation Senate Bill 312. We fought hard to get this bill to a good place. But, at the end of the day, Republican legislators refused to remove the poison pull that puts polluters before impacted communities.
Meanwhile, the Joint Finance Committee could have released the funds last December, based on a request submitted by Gov. Evers and the hard-working staff at the DNR. But here’s the good news: yesterday, the governor took an additional step to reach a compromise by submitting a new request to Joint Finance that mirrors the grant programs proposed in SB 312 – minus the poison pill.
This is a common-sense compromise that Joint Finance members must support in order to ensure that we can get PFAS funding to impacted communities. Ask your legislator to take the compromise! Members of the Joint Finance Committee must release these funds so that the money can get to people who need it. |
