Dear Friend,
I appreciate your reading this weekly update and continue to encourage you to forward to your family and friends. As always if you need anything from my office, you can reach us via our Contact Us page or by calling 202-225-5031.
Thanking our First Responders
This past week, I stopped by the Reservoir Fire Department in Brandon. While there, I presented Fire Chief Josh Swales with a flag that had been flown over the United States Capitol. I’m thankful for all the hard work our first responders do to keep our communities safe.
Remembering The Life and Service of Fellow Mississippians
Please join me in remembering the life and service of Sgt. Breonna Moffett of Bay Springs, Mississippi. Sgt. Moffett was killed in Jordan during the recent drone attack that claimed the lives of three brave servicemembers. She was serving as a horizontal construction engineer with the 718th Engineer Company and was awarded various medals recognizing her bravery and exceptional service. I am thankful for those who give their lives in service to our country to keep us free. May God bless her family during this difficult time.
We also lift up the family and friends of Brian Zemek and Derek Abbott. These two brave Mississippi Guardsmen lost their lives in a training flight preparing to defend our freedoms, and their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Staff Highlights from Around the District
To honor our first responders, Kyle Jordan and Charlie Ballou on my team took doughnuts to the Meridian Fire Department. They met with Fire Chief Michael Ted Evans and thanked him for his service to the community. My team and I are proud to honor our first responders.
Last week, my D.C. staff was in Mississippi hosting appropriations roundtables with community leaders and local elected officials. Tuesday, they were in Brookhaven talking with constituents. We are committed to working with you to better our communities.
My staff recently held a Constituent Services Day in Clarke County. I’m thankful to have a dedicated team that works hard serving Mississippians.
Visiting with an American Hero
I want to thank General Buff Blount for meeting with me and sharing his service to our nation during his distinguished military career. General Blount presented me a copy of 21 Days to Baghdad, a book that records the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division. This Division, led by General Blount, had the mission to capture Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom. We are blessed to have an American hero who calls Mississippi home.
Don't Forget to Vote
We have the Constitutional right to vote. Don’t forget to vote on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
