John,
The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA's) proposal to set the first-ever carbon regulations for existing power plants is a monumental step forward -- but it's at risk.
Their Climate Pollution Rule, vital for slashing emissions from coal and natural gas-fired power plants, is on the corporate lobbyists' chopping block. This rule aims to cut down approximately 25% of the country's greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, aligning with President Biden's goals for a clean energy future.
This is a lifeline for our planet, promising to align with ambitious goals toward a clean, sustainable future.
With fossil fuel interests and their corporate allies attempting to gut these lifesaving measures they are working to undermine our progress towards halving global warming pollution by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050, but we won’t let them dilute and delay the Climate Pollution Rule.
Join us in telling EPA Administrator Michael Regan that Americans can’t wait for clean, pollution-free air. Strengthen and finalize the carbon pollution rules as soon as possible!
The EPA's plan is rooted in an affordable, reliable renewable energy transition and it promises minimal impacts on electricity costs and major gains for our health and environment.
These regulations will provide tangible benefits for our communities and the planet. The EPA estimates the rule could prevent up to 617 million metric tons of CO2 emissions through 2042, translating to $85 billion in climate and public health benefits.
Projections for 2030 alone include the prevention of around 1,300 premature deaths, over 800 hospital visits, and more than 300,000 asthma attacks.
It’s clear that these regulations are a critical test of our resolve in the face of climate change and corporate greed. A stronger, finalized Climate Pollution Rule will cement our commitment to environmental justice, public health, and a resilient future.
Send a clear message to the EPA: We demand action, not half-measures influenced by the fossil fuel industry. Our planet's future, our health, and justice for our communities are non-negotiable.
Let’s keep pushing for a stronger and finalized EPA Climate Pollution Rule.
