John,
Michigan residents sent the President a resounding message that he cannot continue to ignore: Michiganders want President Biden to support a lasting ceasefire.
It was clear with 73 out of 83 counties in Michigan that had 10% or more uncommitted votes cast in yesterday's Democratic presidential primary.
Trump is clearly a threat to our democracy and President Biden is risking another Trump term over his support for the most right-wing, extremist government in the history of Israel.
President Biden must immediately change course and end his support for Netanyahu’s genocide. The majority of the American people, not just Michiganders, want a lasting ceasefire.
Over 100,000 brave Michiganders from all walks of life, all across the state, made their voices heard. We do not support our tax dollars supplying Netanyahu with the bombs to dismember innocent children in Gaza. We do not support our country funding genocide.
A new poll just came out yesterday, affirming that two-thirds of U.S. voters support a permanent ceasefire—including 77% of Democrats.
We are tired of endless war instead of investments in our communities. We are choosing life over death.
The U.S. is the largest arms exporter to Israel, the biggest funder of Israel’s military, and the only country vetoing UN resolutions for a ceasefire.
But that’s not what the American people want. Nor does it align with the Geneva Conventions, of which the United States is a part.
Just a few days ago, dozens of UN human rights experts called for all States to stop arms exports to Israel.
They noted that countries have a duty to prevent genocide and to “ensure respect” for humanitarian law, which “requires all States to do everything reasonably in their power to prevent and stop violations of international humanitarian law by Israel, particularly where a State has influence through its political, military, economic or other relations.”
Please sign if you agree with UN experts: The United States government should stop sending weapons to Israel’s military as it commits genocide.
Thank you. Together, we can ensure our government heeds the people’s calls for an immediate end to the killing, the mutual release of hostages, and a just and lasting peace for all people—regardless of their faith or ethnicity.
In solidarity,
Rashida
