Super Tuesday: Mobilize the Immigrant Vote

Next Tuesday is “Super Tuesday” – the day on which more primary elections will be held than any other day in the 2024 election cycle – so the nation’s attention will be focused on voting. Naturalized immigrants account for one-tenth of all eligible voters, but naturalized citizens vote in lower numbers on election day, with just 41% voting in the 2022 general election, as compared to 53% of US-born citizens.

Organizations serving immigrant families can make a difference, by leading or supporting local voter registration campaigns. Nonprofit VOTE and the Fair Elections Center both offer resources that can help your organization get started.

Political / Policy Update: PIF Partners Oppose Reported Asylum Restrictions

More than 150 international, community, legal, human rights, and faith-based organizations sent a letter last week to President Biden responding to reports that the Biden administration is considering using executive action to restrict asylum. PIF is working with our partners to push back and, hopefully, the administration will not move forward with harmful actions that undermine existing asylum policies.
