Comrades,

In a matter of weeks, the COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically altered the lives of Seattle’s working class, and we recognize that Seattle DSA members like you are likely to have been impacted in significant ways — whether it be illness, layoffs, fewer hours at work, or the sudden responsibility of full-time childcare.

We understand that absent sweeping political and economic demands on the state — such as those advanced by DSA’s COVID-19 Committee — this crisis is likely to worsen, and many of us are already engaged in activities to advance these demands and others in our workplaces and communities.

As socialists, we also have a responsibility to ensure the well-being of one another, in whatever small ways we can, in times of crisis.

To that end, Seattle DSA’s Local Council has established a Member Solidarity Fund to assist Seattle DSA members who have been financially impacted by this health crisis. We are offering one-time donations of up to $200 for any member, depending on demand.

If you have been financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and would like to receive assistance from our Member Solidarity Fund, please fill out this form:

We also recognize that members who have the means may be grateful for the opportunity to assist their fellow Seattle DSA members. At this time, we do not have a clear picture of the extent to which our membership has been affected by job loss, reduced hours, illness, or other setbacks. However, in the coming days, we will reach out with a way for members to contribute, if the demand exists.

This is a time of crisis, but it is also a time of solidarity. Please be safe, and keep your friends, family, neighbors, and comrades in your hearts.
