Congress came through for kids and families as part of the coronavirus economic rescue package, but we aren’t out of the woods yet. Send a thank you message and ask your members of Congress to prioritize child care moving forward.

John -

Thanks in part to the advocacy of activists like yourself, Congress made sure that child care providers will be able to access critical financial relief to help them weather the economic impact of the coronavirus and continue to serve kids and working families when this crisis is over. Congress also included funding for Head Start – a critical help at this time.

Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) advocates sent over 35,000 messages to their members of Congress. Our allies in Congress worked tirelessly to make sure that their colleagues recognized that child care facilities staying in business is absolutely essential to ensure families will be able to go back to work.

Join us in thanking Congress for protecting child care, and ask them to make sure child care is prioritized in the weeks and months ahead.

The funding will make a huge difference to people like SCAN volunteer Joy. Joy runs a bilingual pre-school program in South Carolina. She’s had to close her doors and decrease the amount she is charging families with kids who attend the program. She is continuing to pay her staff’s salaries, but it is getting harder to keep her business afloat.

The small business loans and additional funding for child care assistance in the economic stimulus bill will go a long way in ensuring child care providers, like Joy, will be able to welcome back the kids they serve with open arms when the crisis is over.

Access to child care is indispensable for tens of millions of American families and to kids. Children in high-quality child care and early learning programs start kindergarten ready to succeed. And when this pandemic is over, businesses reopen and parents go back to work, child care programs will play an integral role in meeting new workforce demands, sustaining local communities and rebuilding the national economy.

Please thank your members of Congress for their efforts so far and ask them to continue to invest in and prioritize early learning over the long haul.

Thank you for being a voice for kids,

Roy Chrobocinski
