Ted is probably hoping for another day off work.
With so much happening across the country and world, it’s easy for some stories to get swept under the rug.
But this one is important, John.
Congress is up against the clock right now to draft and pass a new spending bill before this weekend — if not, parts of the government will begin to shut down.
Which reminded us — of just how much our part-time senator Ted Cruz loves government shutdowns.
If we had to guess, it’s because he thinks it’s another day off from the office.
Since Ted’s election to the Senate in 2012, the federal government has shut down three times — two of which Ted played key roles in. In that same time, it has barely averted several would-be shutdowns that would have left thousands without pay, including military personnel and even Ted’s Senate staffers.
But it’s not like Ted cares. Time and time again, he has shown us his true colors and where his priorities actually lie. And we’re ready to tell him we’ve had enough. With February coming to an end, can you chip in $5 or anything you can to help us toward meeting our end-of-month fundraising goal?
With another possibility of a shutdown looming on the horizon, we have no reason to not expect Ted to impede any and all efforts to prevent a shutdown — because let’s face it, John: Ted and his band of far-right Republicans are more interested in causing chaos and mayhem than actually doing the jobs they were elected to serve.
Texas is *long overdue* for a senator who will put its residents and communities first. With Ted’s popularity lagging, we have a powerful opportunity to part ways with our part-time senator. But we can’t do it without you.
