During the ongoing global health crisis, all NPCA events have been canceled and we urge everyone to follow the guidance of public health experts in protecting themselves and their communities from the coronavirus. But because we know that some threats to parks will persist even now, we will continue keeping you updated about how you can take action online to protect national parks.

Dear Friend of the national parks,

One of America's most remote and wildest national parks may soon be paved over.

The 210-mile Ambler industrial mining road in Alaska would cut through Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, disrupting one of Earth's longest wildlife land migrations, cutting across vital waterways and threatening the way of life for Alaska Native communities. And a slew of rushed federal reviews and permits are now being rolled out, bringing this private industrial mining road across the open expanse of Northwestern Alaska one step closer to reality.

The Ambler Mining Road would be a disaster for Gates of the Arctic

Our short video provides a glimpse into Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve and the people, wildlife, and wild lands threatened by the Ambler mining road. Will you watch and share the video so your friends and family can see what's at stake?

It's hard to imagine a place like Gates of the Arctic and its remarkable landscape becoming home to an industrial road crossing nearly 3,000 rivers and streams -- with all the dust, noise and pollution of trucks and heavy machinery. Not many Americans are lucky enough to visit Alaska's wild parklands... but they're part of our nation's cultural heritage. And they are worth protecting.

Our fight against the Ambler Road will continue. And it's more important than ever to speak out for Gates of the Arctic and show the power of the park advocate community. Watch and share this special video to spread the word!

Thank you for all that you do for our national parks,

Alex Johnson
