John,

As Black History Month comes to a close, I'm reminded of the power of unity and the strides we've made toward a more equitable society.

No matter what obstacles have been thrown our way throughout our history, we have persevered through much hardship and prejudice, never giving up, and always showing up to the ballot box. However, despite this progress, it’s clear that our country still has so much work to do.

Elected officials in my home state of Georgia continue to attack the right to vote, blatantly targeting Black folks with Jim Crow-like restrictions and regulations.

Despite being a known racist and insurrectionist, Donald Trump is the front-runner in the Republican presidential primary this year — and is all but certain to face off against President Biden this fall.

The Clarence Thomas-led Supreme Court effectively ended affirmative action programs last summer, barring universities from considering race in admissions. To quote Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson: “Deeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life.”

The fight for justice and equality is ongoing, and it's a battle I'm committed to leading in Congress with your unwavering support.

Let's close Black History Month not just by celebrating past achievements but by taking decisive action toward shaping a more equitable future. Please consider making a donation today to help my team reach our February online fundraising goal.
