John,
Our industry cannot succeed and grow without the right tools or a skilled workforce.
The Bipartisan Workforce Pell Act would expand the Federal Pell Grant Program, a program that awards need-based grants to low-income students. Under current law, federal Pell Grants can only be used for training programs with a 15-week minimum, and excludes many high-quality, short-term programs like welding, information technology, precision machining, and mechatronics. This legislation brings the Federal Pell Grant Program in line with the evolving needs of the U.S. workforce by allowing students enrolled in 8-week long programs (or more) to apply.
It is essential that policymakers equip job creators with the resources to attract, retain, and retrain hardworking men and women to fill the skills gap!
