Here’s a “peek behind the curtain” you might not get from other nonprofit
organizations.

* Public Citizen has always been able to count on an uptick in online donations
in the closing days of a month.

* Which makes sense — people are catching up on bills, crossing things off
to-do lists, and getting “monthly deadline” reminders from candidates and
political committees.

* Except ...

* We never see that natural uptick at the end of February like we do in all
other months.

* And it has been like that as far back as I can remember. Even in leap years!

* It’s a bit of a mystery, really.

* The best explanation I have is that folks just need to see a 30 or 31 on the calendar to sort of kick into “end of the month” mode.

So, what does all that mean?

It means we need 380 people to donate by midnight tomorrow or we won’t close the
gap.

If you can, please donate today.

Anything you can chip in — $5 or $25, $50 or $100, $500 or maybe even more —
will help this shared project called Public Citizen continue standing up to
corporate greed, right-wing extremism, and government inaction.

If donating today is not a good fit, that’s okay. I hope you’ll understand the
need to ask when we’re facing a shortfall like this so we have the resources to
carry out all the essential work you and Public Citizen are doing together.

Thank you for reading this, and thank you for everything you do as part of
Public Citizen.
