Last night, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. joined our AOTL National Volunteer Call to make one of the biggest announcements our organization has ever made.

We are launching a comprehensive 10 Year Plan for fair maps across the country.

A.G. Holder emphasized that, unlike the past when drawing district maps was something that typically only happened once every decade, we now live in an era of perpetual redistricting. Our 10 Year Plan ensures we have a grassroots operation to fit that reality:

Our success hinges on what this grassroots team can do. With our partners and affiliates, the movement for fair maps will be laser-focused on five priorities:

• Achieve best-in-class mapping outcomes
• Make key electoral investments
• Impact important litigation efforts
• Work toward redistricting reform
• Continue top-notch grassroots mobilization

That last piece is key. What separates our work from the way it’s been done in the past is we think citizens’ voices play a critical role in ensuring fairness in our democracy.
