Dear John,
Thanks to the incredible support of nearly 100 volunteers, I was proud to submit the required signatures to get onto the primary ballot to represent Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District in Congress. The volunteers and I spent hours and hours talking to our neighbors and friends about what is important to them and their families. I was grateful for the opportunity to talk directly with the folks I hope to represent in Congress. Those conversations reinforced in me exactly what’s at stake in this election and why I am the best candidate to beat Scott Perry in November.
While our conversations touched on many topics, there are a few I want to highlight:
Working families in our district are struggling. Inflation is too high, jobs don’t pay enough, and the costs of healthcare and childcare are ridiculous. This wasn’t news to me. As a mother with a toddler, I know firsthand the struggle so many in our district are having to make ends meet. That is why I will go to DC to fight for a living wage, support efforts to expand pre-K and vote to cap prescription drug costs.
Immigration isn’t just some random thing happening at the border. Our district is medically underserved and our family farms are closing. These cost our district jobs and opportunities for economic growth. That is why I support comprehensive immigration reform that includes reforming our visa programs to allow more doctors and farm workers to come to our district and make sure our hospitals have the specialists they need and our farms have the labor needed to plant and harvest their crops.
Women’s rights are under attack. First, Roe v. Wade was overturned, limiting healthcare options for women across the country. Now, extreme politicians are coming after IVF treatments for families. The women I spoke with are worried about what’s next. That’s why, in Congress, I will continue my lifelong fight to protect a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions.
I look forward to continuing these conversations as the campaign moves forward. As we near the end of the month, our campaign is coming up to a crucial fundraising deadline and we need your help.
