We want to take you behind the curtains and explain exactly what we mean when we write about the importance of our fundraising deadlines.

Just like every campaign, we have to file finance reports with the FEC each quarter, and we have to lay out how much we’ve raised and how many folks have donated.

The quarter ends on March 31st but here’s the thing, we’re not going to raise 100% of what we need for the quarter in the last week of March. Consistent fundraising is key to hitting our budget, that’s why our end-of-month goal is so important.

You see, we base our campaign’s budget around what we need to do to give Pat the best chance of being reelected.

If we don’t reach our fundraising targets, that has real consequences — meaning we could end up in a situation where we would have to hire fewer organizers than originally planned or purchase fewer yard signs than we had initially hoped for.

We don't want to be in a position where we’re not as financially strong as we need to be — especially considering Elise Stefanik and her MAGA dark money donors are spending over $100 million to defeat Pat and flip New York from blue to red .

So this deadline may not be one for FEC filings, but it is still one of the most important we’ll have all year.
