Here’s a headline from this weekend that caught my eye:
Here’s my rule of thumb when it comes to evaluating politicians: Look at their record, not what they say when they’re trying to get elected.
And when it comes to issues like abortion or IVF, Republican politicians know their positions are deeply unpopular, so they’re scrambling to distance themselves from their records.
That’s true in our race—all of the serious Republican candidates have a history of extremist positions on choice of any kind, and, if they win, they’d likely have the opportunity to vote on issues like abortion and IVF.
While the Michigan Senate primary isn’t until August (even though the presidential primary is today!), let’s review the bidding on where each of our Republican opponents stand on this issue:
So yes, if Republicans win control of the Senate, keep the House, and elect Donald Trump, a federal abortion ban that affects Michiganders is absolutely realistic.
