Friend,
No matter your generation, odds are you’re worried about saving enough for retirement; that is, if you think you’ll retire at all. And for those without savings, their Social Security will be their only source of income.
Last February, Republicans publicly promised to leave Social Security alone [[link removed]] – but, they reneged on their promise and have continued to threaten the future of Social Security. [link removed] [[link removed]]
Just this past September, The House Republican Study Committee proposed changes to Social Security that would raise the full-benefit retirement age to 69 for everyone currently under 59. For those who need to retire earlier than the defined age, this proposal would also cut the total benefits they would receive by 13%.
Why are Republicans so laser-focused on cutting Social Security and so many vital programs? Because they refuse to raise taxes on corporations and the top 1% of earners, and instead target cuts to social programs in their effort to lower the deficit.
Democrats will never put corporations or billionaires over the futures of our working families. And when we win back the House majority this fall, we will get back to work passing legislation that is designed to bolster, not diminish, our workers’ futures.
SUPPORT A DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY IN 2024 [[link removed]]
When Republicans lead, American families suffer. Let’s put an end to it for good. [[link removed]]
