John,

As Maricopa County sheriff, my number one priority is keeping our community safe. That’s why, in the interest of public safety, I have decided to postpone all fundraising events and campaign gatherings through at least April.

It is critical that we each do our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and I fully believe that postponing campaign events is the right thing to do to minimize non-essential social contact for myself, my family, my staff, volunteers, and the community we serve.

I know these are trying times -- but I also know the strength and resilience of the Maricopa County community. We will get through this together.

We will continue to keep you updated as the situation changes, and in the meantime, you can always visit the CDC’s website for more information. If you have further questions or believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19, call the Arizona Department of Health Services at (844) 542-8201.

In service,

Sheriff Paul Penzone
