Team, as you may have already heard, Nex Benedict, a non-binary teenager, died a day after being attacked at Nex’s high school in Oklahoma.

In the wake of this horrible news, Freedom Oklahoma — Nex’s home state 2SLGBTQ+ advocacy organization and a Groundwork grantee — immediately began rallying for justice.

As state lawmakers continue to dehumanize and target the 2SLGBTQ+ community, Freedom Oklahoma has sounded the alarm about the real danger elected officials can cause by amplifying and validating threats to transgender and non-binary youth.

Now, an innocent child’s life has been lost and dangerous anti-2SLGBTQ+ rhetoric continues to be spread even after Nex’s tragic death.
