John -

One thing to know about climate-wrecking pipelines is that they can’t
operate without insurance.

That’s why over the last three years, our movement has successfully
pressured 28 insurance brokers to drop the East African Crude Oil Pipeline
(EACOP).

But one of them, AIG – American International Group – has yet to publicly
reject the pipeline.

Our partner, Insure our Future, will be protesting in New York asking
insurers to drop coverage for all fossil fuel projects TODAY. [ [link removed] ]Can you

Through online actions, protests, and petitions like this one, dozens of
major banks and insurers have publicly rejected the project so far.^1

Right now, the pipeline is facing major delays and needs insurance from
companies like AIG in order to move forward. That’s why our public
pressure right now is so important.

If built, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) would displace
thousands of people living in Uganda and Tanzania while causing
irreversible damage to the environment. It would be the world’s biggest
heated oil pipeline, stretching nearly 900 miles.

That’s why local activists in Uganda and Tanzania have been fighting to
halt the project for years.

We can amplify the communities’ efforts by demanding that insurance
companies like AIG stop underwriting destruction and instead insure a safe
climate future now.

Public pressure works, John. Right now we need your help to
demand AIG drop EACOP. [ [link removed] ]Can you take action today by signing the
petition?
