John,
ICE officers just detained nearly 680 people in Mississippi in the largest single-state workplace immigration raid in U.S. history.
The raids came just five days after a terrorist in our hometown of El Paso murdered 22 people. That same terrorist cited Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric as inspiration for his heinous attack. He said he wanted to shoot “as many Mexicans as possible.”
Trump’s raids in Mississippi separated hundreds of children from their parents. Frightened and confused, kids as young as 11 were forced to fend for themselves. Area schools said that more than 200 immigrant kids went absent.
These families need our help right now, John.
Especially in this moment, with our nation still reeling from a white supremacist terror attack, it’s unconsionable that the Trump administration would launch record-breaking anti-immigrant raids. But that’s exactly what they’ve done.
These actions are being done in our name as Americans — it’s on all of us to end this madness. But before we do anything else, we need to make sure these children and families are okay. That’s why we need your help right now.
Thank you for stepping up today.
