Friend,
I wanted to give you a quick update on the cost of college.
Last week, the Biden Administration announced it would be “canceling” $1.2
billion in student loans. This is not a “cancelation of debt.” It’s really a
transfer of debt. Those who have already paid their debt, the middle class,
those who didn’t go to college, and especially blue-collar workers will be the
ones having to pay the bill.
This is an apparent attempt on Biden’s part to put a Band-Aid on a bullet hole
to buy up votes ahead of the election. I didn't run to serve my community
because I'm interested in scoring political points, like this administration
tries to do. I ran for Congress to address the root causes of our inflated
college degree prices and make fundamental, meaningful changes.
That is why I am working to reduce the cost of college, hold these
administrators accountable for charging too much, and bring transparency to
pricing the right way, without punishing tens of millions of middle and
working-class Americans.
Thank you,
Rep. John James
