Monthly meeting: fracktivists and pipeline fighters
March 12th at 7:30 pm
Although the climate movement in New York State is mighty, fossil fuel companies keep trying to turn the clock back. Come hear about two new proposals to extend the reach of fossil fuels here in New York. Nick Katkevich from the Sierra Club will update us on a plan to expand a pipeline network in the Hudson Valley, and Eric Weltman from Food & Water Watch will tell us about a scheme to frack (yes, frack) in New York's Southern Tier. What can we do to help our allies elsewhere in the state? This promises to be a fiery meeting so make sure to register online now!

March 13th and March 20th
It’s an amazing feeling to be part of a crowd of climate champions filling the halls of our state capitol with noise, energy, and optimism. Our state legislative advocacy is in full swing, and we have two opportunities to join our friends and allies at in-person mobilizations in the state capitol in March. We’ll rally, lobby, and make some noise outside the Governor’s office. Join Renewable Heat Now on March 13 to promote the NY HEAT Act, and join NY Renews on March 20 to promote the Climate, Jobs, and Justice package and budget. Come to one or both, but be part of the action, and make your voice heard in the halls of power! Bus transportation is available for those that RSVP. (Thanks to Ken Schles for the photo above!)

Green and Healthy Schools
As part of Climate Families NYC, 350Brooklyn's Families group, is advocating for "Green and Healthy Schools." In the face of global climate change, our schools need retrofitting to protect them from flooding, upgraded ventilation systems to address wildfire smoke, and electrification to lower greenhouse gas emissions. Sign their petitions to Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams, or if you have kids they can also contribute by writing/drawing letters. Check out the outreach toolkit to help spread the word!
Climate Check: engaging with climate action through art
Tune into a very inspiring discussion on our podcast on how art can empower us to take collective action. Our guest is Chantal Bilodeau, a Montreal-born, New York-based playwright whose work focuses on the intersection of storytelling and climate change. She is the founder of the Arts & Climate Initiative and has spearheaded local and global initiatives for over a decade, getting the theater and educational communities to engage in climate action. Listen to our interview now!

Show 350Brooklyn your love
In 2024, we're hoping to grow our recurring donor base! Recurring donations (monthly or quarterly) provide a steady income stream for our climate justice project, allowing us to plan long term. You'll be hearing from us throughout the year with special incentives to join this special group of donors. For February, anyone who signs up to become a recurring donor will receive a small wellness gift of a handmade herbal tea blend and salve from one of our very own 350Brooklyn members. Love is in the air, send some to 350Brooklyn!
