You may have seen news about this over the weekend, so let’s get right to it, John:
After a long, hard fight with the Liberals, we’ve secured historic steps towards an NDP Pharmacare Plan.
The NDP Pharmacare Plan will cover contraception as well as diabetes medications and devices free-of-charge for everyone who needs it. This is our first big step in getting free prescription medication for all Canadians who need it.
Our work has set the stage for universal, single payer pharmacare in Canada, advancing the dream of Tommy Douglas and all New Democrats for truly universal, public health care. This is what’s possible when Ottawa works for the people.
I am fired up by this result, and ready to take it to the next level. Can you chip in $27 or more today to support this work?
It is unacceptable that nearly one in four Canadians has had to split pills, skip doses or can’t afford to renew or fill their prescriptions due to high costs. Everyone should have access to the medication they need using their health card — not their credit card.
When the Liberals and Pierre Poilievre voted against NDP Pharmacare in the past, we didn’t give up. We kept pushing, because we know this fight is worth it — making Ottawa work for people, and life more affordable for Canadians.
This wouldn’t have happened if we had left the Liberals to their own devices. They’ve failed to deliver on Pharmacare for the last 30 years. Instead, they’ve been siding with Big Pharma and made it harder for Canadians to afford necessary medications.
But I’m proud to say that through the strength of this grassroots movement, with the help of each and every one of you putting the pressure on, we are delivering for Canadians who need it.
We couldn’t have done it without your support. Imagine what more we could do together, John. Can you chip in $27 to keep pushing for a government that works for people and not profits?
