John, campaigns don’t often send fundraising appeals to their supporters regarding foreign policy issues. But I’m running for Congress because democracy and freedom are under attack – and that attack is global, not just here at home. No one should doubt the connections between Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, Hamas’ barbaric attack on Israel, and Donald Trump’s campaign to retake power in November. Russian, Iranian, and Hamas officials have been meeting together to plot their next steps. And all 18 U.S. intelligence agencies came together to report that Russia attempted to interfere with our democracy to hand the 2022 election to Republicans and is trying to do so again in 2024. As the grandchild of four Holocaust survivors, the son of refugees from communism, and an American who has served our country in uniform, I’m committed to doing everything I can to support democracy across the globe. And that’s why David Schweikert’s shameful inaction on sending needed aid to Ukraine is so dangerous. In Congress, right now, Republicans like Schweikert have been refusing to take action to send aid to Ukraine. We know the reason: Donald Trump has given the order to put Putin before America. I’m running for Congress because we are in the fight of our lives. The coming years will decide the fate of democracy in America and around the world. And having seen the price my parents and grandparents paid when freedom disappeared, I’ll be damned if I’m going to let that happen to my children.
