Friends,

In the past few days, without actually apologizing or acknowledging why it was wrong, President Trump has tried to cover for his continued use of the racist, xenophobic term “Chinese virus” in reference to COVID-19.

Asian Americans have experienced a rise in racially motivated discrimination, harassment, and attacks in response to COVID-19. >> [link removed] Some of my neighbors are afraid to step outside, even for essentials. At a time when we need the president to lead with integrity and compassion, his words keep adding fuel to the fire.

We need to take a stand against hate whenever and wherever we see it, wherever it comes from. We deserve better from our leaders.

Right now, we each have the opportunity to ensure our voices are heard as we choose our leaders for the next decade and beyond: we can fill out the census. Redistricting based on the 2020 census will shape our elections for ten years. It’s critical that everyone be counted. Despite attempts by the administration, there is no citizenship question designed to undercount vulnerable communities on this year’s census, and all of the information you provide is confidential by law.

If you haven’t filled your form out yet, you can do so here: [link removed]

Thank you,
Grace
