Donald Trump is seeking to prevent his prosecution in the federal election interference case by claiming presidential immunity. Trump has taken the case all the way to the Supreme Court claiming it was perfectly lawful for him to attempt to overthrow the 2020 election because, as president, he had blanket immunity from prosecution for any acts committed while in office.
The claim is laughable. But now, the Supreme Court continues to consider it.

The Supreme Court must reject Trump’s immunity claims. We are a nation of laws, and no person is a King. If prosecutors have evidence that Trump committed a crime, they should follow the facts to get to the truth.
Democracy demands accountability. State and federal authorities can and must act swiftly to hold Trump accountable for his crimes as well as his other attacks on our democracy and elections. We must make it clear that no one, not even a former president, is above the law.
