Hi friend,

One of my favorite moments from the campaign was speaking with a conservative farmer in Kewanee who said, “I can’t believe I found a Democrat who makes sense!”

If Democrats want to take back the House, we need to do a better job of expanding the electorate, and actually speaking (and listening) to people who may not necessarily identify as “Democrats”.

For two decades, I spoke about a complex and controversial issue (climate change) successfully to everyone in our community. This is how we won last time, and how we’ll win again: engaging in meaningful conversations with voters of every partisan stripe.

A lot of campaigns seem to be asking for money without a purpose. My purpose is to continue having conversations like the one in Kewanee. It’s to continue engaging in conversations across the partisan divide to build a path forward to keeping IL-17 blue.

Every dollar this email raises is a dollar less that I need to raise in call time - the not so glamorous ‘dialing for dollars’ every candidate has to do to raise the money to compete.

So friend, can you contribute ahead of our end-of-month fundraising deadline so I can continue having these types of conversations? If so, thank you, and you can chip in using this link.  [[link removed]]

Thank you for all you do to support Democratic efforts.

-Eric
