** STOP THE BLEED®
------------------------------------------------------------

Wyoming News Now || Feb 22, 2024

Students had a chance to learn how to STOP THE BLEED® at Carey Junior High School. STOP THE BLEED® is a national program that teaches the general public, including kids, how to do basic hemorrhage control. Most people know the heimlich maneuver and CPR. The same cannot be the same about life threatening bleeding. Jennifer Dykshorn, Trauma Program Manager at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center mentions that students at “8th graders at Carey Junior High school” had the opportunity to be taught “how to stop the bleed.”

Dykshorn explains that students are taught “how to recognize life threatening bleeding, how to apply pressure, pack a would, and how to apply a tourniquet.” Anyone can become STOP THE BLEED® certified. Services and classes are offered through Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

** UVM students train to take on medical emergencies
------------------------------------------------------------

WCAX || February 20, 2024

The University of Vermont is preparing students to be ready in the event of nearly any kind of medical emergency. More than 100 students registered to take CPR, AED, STOP THE BLEED® and Narcan training at a special training on Tuesday. The all-day course was put on by the Department of Emergency Management at UVM. Student organizers say they chose these techniques in particular because the time between when an emergency happens and when first responders arrive at the scene can mean life or death. “The biggest thing is that it can happen to anyone, anywhere and the more people having training is really important,” said Abbie Correll, a student.

“From like the bystanders in public to the ambulance to the emergency department, a lot kind of needs to go right in that chain of survival,” said Stephen Mathyas, a Cat ECare student intern. Last summer, all 84 public access AEDs on UVM’s campus were equipped with STOP THE BLEED® kits and Narcan.

Today our STOP THE BLEED® team of Instructors at Medhelp Education and Training Center held classes with 10-11th grade students in Novomoskovsk.

As they say, “Learn while you can!”

The instructors of NTC Medhelp showed, taught and helped children learn the material of the course!

Very grateful to the local authority of the city, Novomoskovskaya, for aiding in organizing the event!

We continue to train civilians.

Attended a @stopthebleedproject course held by @stopthebleed.at last weekend. Was a great experience, learned a lot and had the chance to get great hands on training.

I can definitely recommend it to everyone. No matter if you have any training or not, yet. You don’t need to be a doctor to save a life. Learn and train for situations when you can’t wait even a few minutes for an ambulance to arrive.
