Consultation on the Economic Plan for Nottingham
Economic Plan
A new plan has been created to help boost Nottingham?s local economy over the next ten years.
The Council has worked with partners across the city to create a draft Economic Plan for all private, public and third-sector partners, residents, and stakeholders.
The vision is to deliver a vibrant, sustainable, and investment-friendly Nottingham that promotes inclusion, secures resilience and unlocks prosperity for our residents and businesses.
The new economic plan will be delivered and overseen by the Nottingham Growth Board and the council is currently running a public consultation, which closes on Friday (1 March).
The idea behind is to have a shared vision to improve the economy of Nottingham, with a plan to help the city grow in a fair and sustainable way that benefits all.
To do this there will be a framework of activity to help focus ambition and investment in our city, with a plan that all partners can work towards to create sustainable economic growth. Nottingham has many strengths, but there are areas where we can improve and there are more opportunities to be had.
The vision will be delivered by four key ambitions across four themes:
* *People and Skills": "*"To facilitate additional employment of 20,000 new jobs by 2030"
* *Enterprise and Investment: *"To generate ?1bn of additional Gross Value Added by 2030 in the city"
* *Infrastructure & Regeneration: *"Develop infrastructure and services to serve a city population of 345,000 and a population across Greater Nottingham of 710,000 by 2030"
* *Liveability and Experience: *"To secure the next ?4bn of regenerative investment in our city"

Supporting bus services in the city
Bus Support
The council was awarded a Government grant as part of the Bus Service Improvement Fund ? some of this is being used to support services that would otherwise run less frequently or not at all in certain areas.
Buses supported include the 50, which now has extended hours and days of operation; the 49, which connects Queens Drive park-and-ride with the Boots Enterprise Zone; and the 70, which connects Bulwell with the city centre.

I?m really pleased that in Nottingham we are continuing to support public transport, recently securing more grant-funding from Government to improve bus services on the important 49 and 50 bus routes.
This sort of investment not only makes it easier for people to get around our city for work, learning and leisure, it also helps contributes towards our aim of becoming carbon-neutral by 2028 through fewer car journeys meaning cleaner air.

Improvements to Woodthorpe Grange Park
Woodthorpe Grange Park
Thanks to additional external funding secured from the Government?s Transforming Cities Fund, access improvements will be made to Woodthorpe Grange Park from Monday next week (4 March).
A new path will be created along with a new entrance. These improvements, which will take around three months, will benefit mobility scooter users, pedestrians and cyclists, given how muddy existing routes can get during the winter months.

Day of reflection on Covid deaths
Day of Reflection
The Council is arranging an event to remember people who died during the Covid pandemic as part of the national Marie Curie Day of Reflection.
Our Nottingham event will take place at the council?s Covid Memorial Tree at the Forest Recreation Ground (near to the pavilion and caf?) on Sunday (3 March) at 1pm. People will be encouraged to reflect, join together for a minute?s silence, and lay a daffodil by the memorial tree in memory of someone who died due to Covid.
More than 1,000 people in Nottingham lost their lives during the pandemic and it is important that we take this opportunity to remember them. Nottingham Council House will also be lit up yellow on Sunday in memory of those who died.
