Dear John, this is the time of the month when I'd normally send you an update on what our network's been up to.

Dear John

This is the time of the month when I'd normally send you an update on what our network's been up to. But given the circumstances I thought I'd share a few ideas for keeping connected and busy instead.

We campaign to protect people and the planet. And the best thing we can do right now is to follow the latest guidelines, stay in our homes, and look after ourselves and the rest of the community. I hope some of these ideas help. Feel free to send me your ideas too. And keep those environmental questions coming.

Best wishes and take care,
Aleanna

CONNECT WITH NATURE
From opening a window to getting out in the garden, I hope you've managed to enjoy some of the spring weather. If you’re after a free way to introduce a bit more nature into your life here’s our simple guide to making a bee hotel ([link removed]) .

We know not everyone’s able to make a donation right now, and many of you are stepping up to support the front-line causes that urgently need our help – thank you for everything you're doing. But if you'd like to donate and to help us continue to tackle the climate and nature emergency, we'll send you a Bee Saver Kit, complete with wildflower seeds, bee spotter guide and lots of hints and tips for helping bees.

TUNE IN TO A PODCAST
What's the music industry doing to tackle the climate emergency? What inspired the youth climate strikers to take action? How did local people beat fracking in their back yard?

These are some of the questions our guests discuss in our podcast series How to Save the Planet ([link removed]) .

Or if you want to get away from the world's troubles for a bit check out some of our staff picks of films and books ([link removed]) (Disclaimer: some of my colleagues stick to the big issues in their down time too!).

DISTRACT YOURSELF WITH A QUIZ
Can you find the hidden plastic in everyday objects? Is it true that birds flying low means rain? We've dusted off a couple of our old quizzes so that you can test your knowledge – and challenge your friends.

IF YOU'RE KEEPING ON CAMPAIGNING...
I know that many of you campaign in your community to tackle climate breakdown – and a whole host of other issues.

Like us, I'm sure that safety is your priority. We must all take appropriate steps to look after those most vulnerable to Covid-19 – in particular older people and those with underlying health conditions.

That doesn't have to mean stopping your work altogether. But it does mean going about it differently. See here for our guidance and digital campaigning resources.

Being a grassroots network, people and communities are at the heart of all we do.

So while we’ll continue to campaign to stop climate and nature breakdown, during these difficult times our top priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of you, our supporters, and the wider community.

We’ll be doing all we can over the coming weeks to make sure we can support you in any way possible, from showing how you can connect and work with your community online, to sharing stories to help lift your spirits.

Look after yourself, look after each other, look after the planet.
