We need you to take action with us TODAY to ensure America’s Climate Case is heard.

If you’ve been here with us for a while now, you’ve heard about Juliana v. United States: the landmark constitutional climate lawsuit ([link removed]) that 21 young Americans filed against the U.S., asserting that the federal government must be held accountable for fueling the climate crisis and destroying young people’s lives.

That was nine years ago.

Today, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is doing everything in their power to silence these youth and shut down their case. They’ve made 22 extraordinary attempts to get it thrown out—that’s more government persecution than any other case has faced in U.S. history.

After nine years, this is the final make-or-break move to keep the case in the trial court.

Here’s the deal: Just weeks ago, the Juliana 21 were headed to trial. But now, the DOJ is abusing emergency government powers to rip the case out of the normal legal process. Out of 40,000+ cases in front of the DOJ, these extreme legal tactics are only being used against ONE case: Juliana.

They’re doing this because they know that 169 youth plaintiffs are actively working alongside Our Children’s Trust to hold governments accountable, here and across the globe. The DOJ knows the youth’s voices are powerful. And they know the youth are WINNING, and that if the Juliana 21 are allowed to make their case, they will win too.

If the DOJ succeeds, the Juliana 21 won’t be heard in open court. If we succeed, the Juliana 21 will go to trial and they will win—and force the United States, the BIGGEST contributor to climate change in the world, to make systemic change and phase out fossil fuels. They will win long-lasting protection of their constitutional rights that no politician can undo.
