AI: Lightning talk summary

In the first of our new Lightning Talks, Marie Soulière and Nishchay Shah spoke about new tools and directions in AI for scholarly publishing followed by a Q&A with the audience.
Marie described the industry-wide increase in fraud perpetrated by malicious actors who have access to increasingly sophisticated AI tools. Nishchay followed up with a broad perspective on the state of AI which situated the challenges for publishers and editors in a wider landscape of emerging tools which operate at differing scales, and with multimodal capabilities. They described the tools their companies have introduced, giving a practical insight into how AI can now be used to assist in human decision making.
The summary of the Lightning Talk is now available and includes some questions we didn't have enough time to address during the live talk.

** Text recycling

Next in the series is a lightning talk on the topic of text recycling. Look out for the next issue of Digest when we open registration.

Introducing new COPE Trustee Emilio J Sanz, a Professor in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of La Laguna, in Tenerife, Spain and Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at the University Hospital. Emilio is Associate Editor of the European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.
