Hi, Name,
I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to you today because
I need your support more than ever.
Recently, during a joint media interview, my opponent, Democratic
incumbent Bill Foster, made a statement that deeply troubled me. He
complained that I am "blathering on about my Illinois roots." [ [link removed] ]You can
watch the video here.
This comment not only undermines my personal story but also disrespects
the very essence of what it means to be a proud Chicagoan.

Let me share with you a bit about my journey. My family and I moved to the
Chicago suburbs in 1988, and this place has been my home ever since. I am
proud to have attended school here, including earning my undergraduate
degree at the University of Illinois Chicago. This is where I bought my
first home, where I married my wife, and where we welcomed our first child
into the world.
After attending law school and kicking off my human rights career out of
state, I returned to Illinois to care for my father, who suffers from
late-stage Parkinson's disease. It's here, in the heart of the Chicago
suburbs, that I am raising my children, just as I was raised.
[ ]I invite you to watch this video, where I share my story.
I am proud of my roots in Illinois. They are not something to be dismissed
or trivialized. They are an integral part of who I am and why I am running
for Congress—to represent the values and aspirations of the people of
Illinois's 11th Congressional District.
But I cannot do this alone. [ ]I need your help to ensure that my
voice—and the voices of all Illinoisans—are heard loud and clear in
Washington. Your support is crucial to our success.
[ ]You can donate to our campaign here, even $1 will help. Will you stand
with me?
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
— Qasim Rashid
