John,
It’s hard to believe it’s real, isn’t it? It’s 2024, and we are staring down the reality of ANOTHER match-up between Trump and Biden.

So many of us will never forget the feeling of disbelief when Trump won in 2016. Our shock didn’t last long before it filled with action, and we descended on Washington and our state capitals in protest and demonstration for change. That energy compelled us to flip the House in 2018, win back the presidency in 2020, and make history here in Michigan in 2022, where I flipped this seat, electing the first Democratic woman in West Michigan history.
And now, the thing I hear most from my supporters is how tired they are, how much they feel “Maxed out on Crisis.” Outrage is very hard to sustain, and I don’t want disengagement to be an option either. So, I have a suggestion for us all – what if we do this on low power mode?
Low. Power. Mode. I’m not asking anyone to chant or cheer. I’m not asking anyone to knit a pink hat. I’m not asking anyone to feel the same fire they felt in 2018 when faced with the very first opportunity to reject a growing extremism in our country.
Some of the hardest battles in our country have been won through sustained action (even when we didn’t feel like it, even when it took far, far longer than it should have). The main push for women’s suffrage lasted close to a decade, and with each passing election, women held and lost hope that this might be their year. Some, like Inez Mulholland, didn’t even live to enjoy the impacts of her work. So, too, with the push to abolish slavery, establish a democracy, and so on. It’s clear that extremism is here to stay, and so too must our work to make sure it doesn’t take control. Any of our big battles as a nation – anything worth winning – has been obtained by pushing through even the hardest and most exasperating times.
So, while we don’t have to do it with sparkles on and crafty signs, we must do the work nonetheless–we have to vote, we have to organize, and we have to prepare. So, John, can I count on you to support my campaign and grow our momentum ahead of the November elections?

Thanks for taking action,
Hillary
