As February comes to a close, we wanted to end our Black History Month email series with a way for you to take action in the ongoing fight for health justice.
For far too long, racial disparities and injustices have existed across our broken, profit-driven health care system — from maternal and infant mortality rates to health care deserts to the disproportionate impacts of Covid-19 — resulting in worse health experiences and outcomes for Black patients.
While we know that enacting Medicare for All in the US would not eliminate racial disparities and injustices, we know that it would go a long way to address them.
We need a single-payer, national health care system in the U.S. which guarantees care for all free at the point of service, regardless of race, ethnicity, country of origin, immigration status, sex, gender, marital status, age, or income. Expanded and improved Medicare for All means everybody in, nobody out.
But in order to create the public pressure and political will necessary to get Medicare for All passed at the federal level, we need a groundswell of grassroots support from people like YOU — and we have the perfect opportunity for you to get involved.
It’s time for a single-payer health care system that would go a long way to address health disparities, effectively control costs, and assure that everyone is guaranteed an excellent standard of care across the entire country.
Let’s make it happen, together: we hope to see you on Wednesday’s call to learn more and take the next steps!
In solidarity,
Nurses’ Campaign to Win Medicare for All
