Hello,

In this week’s edition, I address how to participate in the creation of the world and why orienting yourself to the future can bring about habitable order. Then, I talk with author, teacher, and prior hostage negotiator Chris Voss about navigating the job market and real-world hostage negotiations. From the archives, I revisit a tour-stop segment in which I analyze Cain’s actions and demise — and why having an ideal is imperative.

Advice

Transform Your Potential Into Good

If you integrate possibility with a higher-order and sophisticated vision and then grapple with that emergent possibility to realize it, you participate in the creation of the world. The fact that you do so is the reason our culture is predicated on the idea that you are made in the image of God. God is the spirit that confronts chaos and possibility and transforms them into habitable reality. And that is you in the microcosm.

That is a divine act you are participating in. You can discern that because if you do it right and it is deeply meaningful, the habitable order you generate from the encounter with chaos and potential is good. So the Word that manifests itself at the beginning of time, the creative word, confronts potential. The wasteland, the water, the deep — all symbolic representations of potential — use truth and love to shape that potential and produce the order that is good, which is why Genesis repeats, “And God saw what he had created and it was good” after each day of creation.

If you are oriented properly in your life when you contend with the transforming horizon of the future which is the entrance of becoming into being, and then you contend with that as a higher-order ethical actor, you transform that potential into the habitable order that is good.

While on his Beyond Order tour, Jordan discussed the correlation between living well and thinking well. Thinking guides our actions, and in order to act according to our values, we must be free to do so. As an existential thinker, Jordan adheres to the belief that we act out our values and must mitigate life’s suffering with a worthy challenge. To hear Jordan’s thoughts on these topics and more, watch episodes from his various tour destinations, with no talk being the same. Stream the Beyond Order Tour exclusively on DailyWire+.

The Problem Of Physical Death Was Solved Centuries Ago

In the late 1800s, Nietzsche observed that God was dead. It was a very complex observation because people like to think of that as a triumphalist proclamation by this emancipatory philosopher. But that wasn’t the case at all because Nietzsche basically said that God was dead, we had killed him, and we will never find enough water to wash away the blood. He knew it was a catastrophe, and he prophesied that three things would happen.

Auckland Clip 4: On Cain And Abel

While in Australia and New Zealand a few years ago, I discussed the story of Cain and Abel. Cain’s sacrifices were half-hearted, but nevertheless, he tires of seeing them overlooked. Cain had entered into a creative union with malevolence, inviting his perverse will and capacity for cruelty to become manifest. Then, when he kills his brother Abel, he thereby destroys his ideal, but his motivation is darker than murder: Cain was shaking his fist in anger at the structure of reality and unfairness of being. This is a story worth considering.
