Bowman for Congress

Hey John,

My opponent (a white man) pulled up to a Black Democrats event in my district and decided to talk about how much progress the Black community has made in politics… while forgetting to mention that he’s running to unseat our district’s first Black congressman. (That’s me.)

When he got called out, here’s what he said to defend himself:

“I’m comfortable in my own skin dealing with African Americans as well as whites.”

—My opponent George Latimer

I sure hope my opponent is “comfortable” “dealing with African Americans” given that our district is home to historic, influential Black communities. 🤦🏿‍♂️

Normally I would laugh this off. But the amount of money coming in to elect my opponent is no joke. Chip in to help me make sure our district has the representation we deserve.

“There are people who are African American who are unhappy that I am in this race.”

It gets more serious, too.

Anyone who wants to represent this district can’t make offhanded comparisons to literal lynch mobs. And I still really don’t believe he gets it. When he edited the post, he said it was because it was “offensive to some.” That’s not an apology – and that comparison is offensive to ALL who feel even a shred of solidarity with the Black community.

Take it from someone who’s been there: Congress does not need another career politician with questionable views on race. Chip in to help me beat this one.
