NIJ FY24 Research and Evaluation on the Administration of Justice: Prosecution Practice, Justice, Case Tracking, and Workforce

NIJ seeks to fund proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects examining the impact of court and other criminal justice tools, practices, and policies on the administration of justice and public safety in state, local, and tribal jurisdictions.

This solicitation is focused on four research priorities and their impact on charging, case flow, outcomes, and other prosecution functions:

  1. Advancing prosecution practice and resource management.
  2. Promoting fair prosecution and impartial administration of justice.
  3. Building prosecution data resources, research capacity, and transparency.
  4. Enhancing the prosecution workforce and court workgroup.

Application Instructions 

Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each step with its own deadline:

  1. Submit an SF-424 and an SF-LLL in Grants.gov.
    Grants.gov Deadline: May 8, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET
  2. Submit the full application, including attachments, in JustGrants.
    JustGrants Deadline: May 22, 2024 at 8:59 p.m. ET

Applicants must register with Grants.gov and JustGrants prior to submitting an application.

The following application elements must be included in the application to meet the basic minimum requirements to advance to peer review and receive consideration for funding:

  • SF-424 and SF-LLL (in Grants.gov).
  • Proposal Narrative (in JustGrants).
  • Budget Web-Based Form, which includes the budget details and the budget narrative (in JustGrants).
  • Curriculum Vitae/Resumes for Key Personnel. (For purposes of this solicitation, “key personnel” means the principal investigator, and any and all co-principal investigators.)
