On Thursday House Democrats will be hearing two bills related to firearms in the House Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee in a joint hearing with Children and Families Committee. The two bills are HF601 ? Her and HFXXXX ? Becker-Finn, the so-called ?safe storage? bill. The ?Safe Storage? bill would greatly expand storage requirements for firearms within someone?s own home and create limits on the effectiveness of a firearm for home defense.
While Democrats will not be allowing any public testimony at the Thursday hearing there is the opportunity to submit written comments. This excerpt directly from the committee page has the procedure and deadline for summiting testimony.
Written Testimony: The deadline to submit written testimony will be 12pm, Feb. 28th. All written testimony must be submitted in a PDF document without clickable links. All testimony should be sent to?[email protected].
With the number of people expected to attend this hearing the House is preparing to have overflow space where the hearing will be broadcast as well as the usual live stream available at House TV or on YouTube.
This is your time to make your voice heard! Tell Democrats in Saint Paul that they don?t get to take away the rights of law-abiding Minnesotans!
