John,
I'm sure you've heard the news: Earlier this month, House Republicans voted for the second time to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas, and it passed.
I'm disappointed to see the first person born in Latin America to lead the department be attacked in such an unfair manner.
And we are left with the sad reality that even after Republicans got what they wanted, nothing has changed.
The price of gas and groceries in my district is just as high as it was before.
Texas Governor Abbot is still sending buses full of migrants to Chicago, and the city is still struggling to get them the resources they need because there is little federal assistance available.
We are no closer to getting to the root cause of any of our issues at the southern border – and Republicans are content to let things stay that way.
Because let's face it: instead of searching for real solutions or hearing from experts, Republicans are only interested in this issue for the implied political gain.
But people like the migrants coming to Chicago, people like my parents, people like my husband, aren't scapegoats or resume boosters, they're human beings.
Now more than ever, we need voices in Congress who understand our country's need for compassionate, comprehensive, and humane immigration reform. Please consider supporting my campaign for reelection today>>
Despite the current disappointing, and frankly disgusting, actions of Republicans, I know that together, we can take steps forward toward real policy change and a better future.
Thank you,
Congresswoman Delia Ramirez
